MCLEAN WOODSIDE MANOR

McLean, VA. Grand on entry, intentional all the way through. The formal dining room was set for real dinners, a light wood table with cream high back chairs keeping the room from going heavy, with one large black and white abstract carrying the long wall. The family room is where the house actually gathers, a cream sofa and gray leather swivel chairs over a woven rug, soft enough to drop into at the end of a day. The breakfast area handles the start of the day, a round dark wood table that seats six close enough to talk over coffee before everyone scatters. The lounge reads as a library nook, two brown leather chairs and a gold and marble table beside built-ins lit from within, a corner for reading where nothing else competes for attention. The office takes the corner windows, a wood desk turned into the light with two mid century leather swivel chairs opposite it, a room you could work a full day in without wanting out. The primary bedroom ended up the coziest room in the house, a black headboard with gold inlay against white bedding layered in fur, warm wood and brass picking up the glow off the fireplace, all of it adding up to a bed you want to dive into. The covered porch got the biggest piece in the house, a modular teak sectional in deep gray, low and wide enough to seat everyone at once, facing a wood burning fireplace with the saltwater pool and the acres stretching out past it. Every room worth stopping in.
