HERNDON COLONIAL
Herndon, VA. A brick front colonial with the classic bones already in place, columns, crown molding, a formal floor plan, so the goal was refining what was there rather than reinventing it. The primary suite pairs a tufted upholstered headboard with a soft palette of ivory and grey, with a private sitting area just off the bedroom, built around its own fireplace, a quiet reading space to start or end the day. Two loveseats sit together on a patterned rug, close enough for conversation, private enough to just sit and read. The formal living room stays classic and light, a tufted white sofa and settee framed by an oversized gold floor mirror. In the family room, a two story dark wood fireplace anchors the space, with a large sectional and layered pillows built for actually gathering around it. The morning room stays bright and airy, the kind of space that makes starting the day feel unhurried, grounded by a black glass coffee table and heron artwork. The formal dining room leans traditional, upholstered nailhead chairs and a warm wood table under an existing chandelier and ceiling medallion. A sunroom brings in the outdoors on every side with wicker and rattan seating, while the home office pairs a dark wood desk with vintage-inspired art.
